Hengifoss

Hengifoss in Fljótsdalur valley is the third highest waterfall in Iceland, 118 meters. The surroundings are quite unique due to thin, red layers of clay between the basaltic lavasIt´s only half an hour drive away but we just went up there for the first time. It´s beautiful hike and easy for the every age. Well... if you have a baby backpack. And regular snack stops.

A bike ride

A 15 km bike ride to the church in Geirsstaðir. A rebuilt small church from the year aprox. 1000. I helped rebuilding it in the year 2000 actually. It´s beautiful here in the middle of nowhere. And no one was there but me, which made it even more beautiful. The bike ride was easy, flat but on gravel road mostly. I will definitely do it again. Then with food. And my husband hopefully.

Welcome to my home

East Iceland: Beautiful mountains, relaxed fishing villages, waterfalls, vast highlands, friendly locals, hundreds of hiking trails, the worm in the lake of Lagarfljot, reindeers, deep fjords, abandoned farms and hidden elves are amongst the millions of things I want to share with you.

It´s also my home. Lucky me.
